ABB’s standard Tmax T5, T6 and T7 circuit breakers are approaching the end of their manufacturing lifecycle.
In its January 2026 announcement, ABB scheduled discontinuation for the end of the year, with last-time-buy orders required no later than September and delivery within December. For businesses that maintain equipment fitted with these breakers, this changes how they source replacement parts and future spares.
With that purchasing deadline now passed, maintenance teams and procurement departments should focus on identifying installed units, reviewing spare stock and checking remaining availability.
What ABB Announced for the Standard Range
ABB’s January notice covers standard Tmax T5, T6, and T7 circuit breakers rated up to 690 V AC and 750 V DC, including IEC and UL versions and their accessories.
The announcement sets out three key points:
- Discontinuation: Scheduled for the end of 2026.
- Last-time-buy deadline: No later than September 2026, with delivery within December.
- Factory supply: Limited to completing ongoing projects.
ABB also restricted availability to selected countries and said it could not guarantee the country of origin.
These notices give buyers a clear reason to review their requirements, particularly where an existing installation depends on a specific breaker configuration.
Which Tmax Circuit Breakers Are Affected?
The 2026 timetable applies to the standard versions identified in ABB’s January announcement.
Certain special-application products follow a separate schedule. In its July update, ABB lists high-voltage T4, T5 and T6 breakers for applications up to 1150 V AC, equipped with electronic trip units, as entering the Classic lifecycle phase. Their phase-out date is September 2027. For more information, see ABB’s product lifecycle information.
Reviewing Installed Breakers and Spare Stock
A useful first step is to record where Tmax, T5, T6 and T7 breakers are installed and which units support critical equipment.
Bring those records together with your existing spares inventory. This makes it easier to identify gaps and prioritise purchasing enquiries around operational needs.
For each unit, collect:
- Full ABB part number.
- Current and voltage ratings.
- Trip-unit model and number of poles.
- Mounting arrangement and fitted accessories.
- A clear photograph of the nameplate.
Required quantities and delivery timescales complete the enquiry. Keeping these details together reduces repeated requests for information and helps maintenance and purchasing teams work from the same records.

Country of Origin and Replacement Options
ABB’s country-of-origin restriction affects buyers with foreign or multiple manufacturing locations. Include those requirements when requesting a quotation so they can check them against available stock.
Alongside enquiries for existing Tmax T components, ABB provides information on migration to Tmax XT. Its US Tmax T product page links to a T5-T7 cross-reference guide.
Replacement planning covers electrical, mechanical, and functional requirements, including connections, accessories, and protection arrangements. These are central elements of ABB’s replacement guidance.
